Sleet & freezing rain!!! Posted: Mon Jan 03, 2005 6:40 am

Last night I was sitting around deciding whether or not to go out and run ( I was playing the "I'll go out in 20 minutes" game) Anyway, while thinking about it, I noticed a noise coming from outside. Upon investigating said noise, I saw it had suddenly started sleeting & freezing rain. Right then I thought, this is the new you, get your butt out there and run! So I pulled on my running clothes and headed out the door past my amazed family. Once I was outside, I overruled my final objection of "it's too slippery" by going back in and strapping Yaktrax on my shoes and heading out again. I must say, that was the best run I've had so far! I could barely contain my grin as ran through the elements. :) For the first time, I felt like a "real runner." The Yaktrax performed wonderfully and I had a ball!! I can't wait to go out again and brave the elements.

Woo-hoo! That's some dedication. You should have a great '05.

But where do I learn more about "Yaktrax"? :o)

Wow, I thought my Sunday run in the cold driving rain was hardcore, but yours definitely tops that! You are crazy!!! I can just imagine the aghast looks on the faces of your family as you headed out the door... ;-)

Ran an hour and a half in the Sierra Nevadas yesterday wearing Yaktrax for the first time, and I felt indestructable! Cars flying off the streets, trucks stalled out in snowdrifts, and there I went, bouncing along past them all, glued to the road.

I might start wearing them everywhere: Work, out to dinner, in the shower...

How do the Yaktrax work on paved sections that are clear of snow and ice? Do they get in the way?

Of course there probably weren't many clear sections in the Sierras this weekend, 9 feet of snow and all...
