This is a brand new race that "replaces" the Ontario Shore Marathon" that used to be in early May. Mid-September is a tough date for an upstate NY marathon, as temps could possibly still hit the 90's, but are more likely to be in the 70's. That's still warm for a marathon, and I imagine the race organizers felt they needed to pick this in order to minimize competition from other Fall marathons in the northeast. The race director says to expect about 1,000 runners, including a full, a half, and a relay. The race will start at downtown at Frontier Field, Rochester's minor league baseball stadium, run out through some of the area's southeastern suburbs, and then loop back to finish once again at Frontier Field.
