Training for sea level marathon Posted: Sat Nov 21, 2009 9:41 pm

I live in Denver and want to train for a marathon at sea level. Most literature about training pace for long runs dictate anywhere from 30 seconds to 90 seconds slower than race pace goal time. However, living at elevation changes the dynamics of training and racing. You should normally see a difference in race times at sea level compared to elevation but when it comes to training at altitude for a sea level marathon, should there be a difference in pace for the long runs? If so, by how much? I hope this make sense.
