marathon shoe advice Posted: Tue Dec 14, 2004 11:22 am

I'm looking for some advice on shoes for running a marathon. Is it normal to race in the same shoes you use for regular training, or should I get racing shoes? Does a lighter shoe really make much difference? Can anyone suggest a good marathon shoe?

I've heard that every ounce of weight taken from your shoe saves about 2 seconds per mile. But if lightweight shoes leave your feet beat up because of not enough padding, you'll probably do much worse in race shoes than in regular ones.
