Training results: 1/31-2/6 Posted: Tue Feb 08, 2005 11:07 am

I guess this is a little bit late. I had a decent training week last week, with not as much mileage as I'd planned, but everything still seems to be going fairly well.

M
T 7 (Billat 30-30 intervals)
W 11
T 6
F 6
S
S 15 (including 13.1 half marathon race)
TOTAL: 45

I had planned to be running in the low 60's per week at this point in my training, but due to one excuse or another, it never happened. Oh well... four more weeks now until my goal marathon! Taper officially begins next week, but I may push it out and do another week of regular training and then a two week taper instead of my normal three week taper.

And boy am I tired! I took off both Monday and Tuesday to give my bruised ribs a chance to recover, and then proceeded to come down with the worst cold I've had in years. Decided I'd better lay off the running and get well. Finally burned through the worst of it by Sunday, and have been out running again M and T of this week. Monday was supposed to be a tempo run, but there was no way I was ready for that after my nearly non-existant mileage last week. I'll try it on Thursday. I'm glad my spring marathon is still 3.5 months away!

I just got off my first week of running six days and so far I really like the recovery runs. I also used to have the medium long run in the middle of the week, so buching the longer miles together at the end of the week is new to me, but I so far I like that as well. Keeping the mileage low during the week allowed me to run harder in those two tempo runs and still be rested enough for the weekend. I also was able to stay within my training zones better. Historically I would be too tired for my speedier runs struggling to finish and too rested for my long runs going too fast, but this week my energy and effort levels matched the workouts.
