Shay, Rhines Win USA 15km Titles

Jen Rhines claimed her second USA 15 km Championship title in Indianapolis on Saturday, while Ryan Shay won his first. Rhines ran the first 10km with a pack including defending champ Colleen De Reuck, Blake Russell, and Elva Dryer before breaking away to win in a time of 49:21. Shay defeated a men's field that included Alan Culpepper with a time of 43:52. He also won a $5000 "equalizer bonus" for being the first person of either sex to finish, given the women's head start of 5 minutes over the men.
