What a great day for a race. The weather was perfect. There were over 600 runners participating, spread out among a 5K, 10K, and 10-miler. I ran the 10-mile section and did plausibly well. I completed the race about 8 minutes quicker than my anticipated finish time. My pace was 11:13 per mile, so I didn't break any speed records. I don't expect to, anymore. I was just there to challenge myself and have fun.

Congratulations! It must have been great to get out there in some beautiful running weather and start thinking about putting winter behind you. Was this a trail race or road race? 8 minutes better than expected in a 10 mile race is a pretty huge accomplishment... that's almost a full minute per mile better than expected. Way to go!

Nice race Terry! I'm looking foward to our season opener around here next Saturday, a St. Paddy's day 5-miler. Weather's supposed to be in the upper teens...hmm, sure makes me want to don some shorts and go run outdoors for a while!

I'd classify it more as a road race, even though a goodly portion of it was on a trail. The first four miles was on the road and then dropped down to a riverwalk trail and nature trail. The trail portion was all paved, though.

One other thing-- I see that Pueblo is about 5000 ft elevation. According to the handy-dandy Runworks calculator, you would have averaged about a 10:43 pace for the same race at sea level.

That's handy to know. I need every second I can get. I know when I ran in the Las Vegas half marathon a month or so ago, I felt a lot better because of the lower altitude. I wasn't puffing as hard.
