Another week gone... how did your training go? Where did you end up relative to your original plans? Any especially noteworthy events this week for you?

I've got a chest cold like an obnoxious guest that won't leave, and that's slowed me down a bit this week:

M
T 8
W 12 (walked some)
T (skipped a planned run)
F 6 (cut tempo run short)
S 6
S 16 (felt pretty dead)

That's 48 miles for the week, most of them at a much slower than normal pace. 8 more weeks until the marathon! I am doomed.

If I can manage to shake this cold, I'll hopefully run something in the low to mid 50's next week, with a 20 miler next Sunday.

A very wimpy week, 32 miles over 4 runs, with a longest of 12. Between sloppy weather and lack of enthusiasm, I didn't even come close to the 45 I'd planned on. This week's supposed to be 50, but I suspect that's going to be a problem too, as I head off skiing for 4 days on Thursday.

Started training for a half marathon this past week, so my mileage dipped from my normal weekly of 30:

M - off

T - 3

W - speed training (3)

Th - 3

F - off

S - 3

Sun - 5

This week I up to 19 for the week. Weird not running my normal distances, but all in due time.

I'm curious-- why did you reduce your mileage in order to start the half-marathon training program? The program may call for lower mileage in the initial weeks, but I assume that's normally because they figure you're coming from a low-mileage period. If you're already comfortable doing 30 mpw, I don't see any reason to cut back now as your start formal training.

Actually, the program (for an "intermediate" runner) is designed for those runners who run 25 + mpw and can run "comfortably for an hour". My belief is that within this lower mileage weeks, the speed runs that I normally didn't include in my 30 mpw call for more recovery. As the mileage increases, so do the speed distances. Eventually, I'll be running 31 mpw with 45 minute tempo runs built in.

I thought I'd follow the program as closely as it was constructed, just to see. I mean, I can always add miles, and do in fact; instead of 3 mile runs during the week, I'm actually hitting about 3.3 miles those days.

Ah, that makes sense. 30 down to 19 is a pretty big drop, though. I think you'd be safe bumping that up to something in the 20's, even allowing for extra recovery. I can understand your desire to "stick with the plan" though... if it ends up seeming too easy, you can always try a more demanding plan for your next race.
