The Google side-bar ads are offering me great airfares and hotel rates for my travels to Addis Abbaba, and are offering to introduce me to singles in Ethiopia! I happended to be reading the article about the elite woman runner from Ethiopia who'd just died of heart failure, and apparently the Google ad engine must have decided those were the ads that were most relevant to me! Hmm, I didn't notice what ads were popping up while I read the thread about sex before racing, but maybe it's a good thing my kids weren't around at the time...

My personal favorite is when you see an add for carpeting, because the page contains the word "runner". Ack.

I actually spent a lot of time the other day putting filters on the Google ads to weed out the obviously inappropriate ones, so hopefully what's there now should be a little more topical and relevant to readers.
