Ideas for the website
Posted: Fri Jan 07, 2005 9:27 am
Hi, Just a thought. There are a few good websites out there, but as a 1958er I feel alienated from many of them, Letsrun.com for instance has such a high crap to gold ratio that I can hardly stand it. Coolruning Boomers is OK, but not very technical. Maybe you could try to develop a niche for serious 40+ runners. I bet our demographics would also make your sponsors happy.

Sponsors, that's rich! Ahem.
*cough*
Thus far, Runworks has had a pretty high signal to noise ratio in the discussion forums. I think that's simply because there are not too many posters, and so everybody kind of "knows" each other, and therefore nobody posts silly, stupid, offensive things. There's also a moderator reading all the postings who can edit or delete items that are inappropriate.
I'd be happy to host a niche for serious masters runners. If there's enough interest, I could eventually create a new forum specifically for masters discussions, and add other related content. The overall readership is still fairly small right now, though, so I don't want to split up the forums further until there's a larger member base to help keep discussions going.
In the mean time, if you're looking for more "technical" content, try the Training and Racing forum. This forum is more intended for casual running-related banter, etc.
