Sex the night before? Posted: Fri Jan 07, 2005 9:18 am

OK, i've read the pundits on this, but what is your experience? Does pre-race nooky help or hurt you? For me it is a must, but mostly cuz my HS coach told me not to (that was in the 1970s).

Wow, suddenly it's the Jerry Springer show in here! :-) Except for the loss of sleep it might cause you, I can't see how it would make a difference one way or the other. Why did your HS coach advise against it?

I haven't raced, but from the studies that I have seen, it in no way hurts athletic performance the next day. I don't think that I would take any sport seriously enough to abstain. It's not natural! :o)

It may not help, but it sure don't hurt. As far as I'm concerned any time is the right time.

Well, I think the actual truth of the matter is...it's not sex that's a problem....it's staying out late at night looking for it that does you in...and thus why coaches tell their althetes to abstain before an important event. Personally, I think sex before, during, and after can't be bad ...but that's just me. :)

Hmm, I don't know about "during", that could affect your finish time...

OH...I see your problem...you're too focused on your finish time to enjoy the race. ;)
