Thanks to lots of comments about all the clip art, the Runworks site design has been updated to something a bit more professional-looking using stock photo collections. More changes are still coming, so eventually you should see more topic-specific photos for the articles, etc.

If you've got any comments on the design or suggestions for further changes, please post them here!

OK, so what's with the giant eye? Is that Big Brother watching over me to see whether I've been doing my scheduled training or not? Or maybe Santa watching to see whether I've been bad or good?

Heh... the eye closeup is for the "people" article category. Since I can't get portraits of the actual people, and a portrait of a generic person wouldn't make any sense, it seemed the best option. If you can think of anything that suggests people/biography better than that, I'll see if I can dig it up.

i like the pictures that relate to the article! keep up the good work. i always like those polls on web sites, for something else to interact with beyond the forums. sort of a one word answer forum.....you know the one's like "what's your favorite cross training activity -cycling -swimming - weight lifting -none"... and the results tally in some kind of bar graph.....just a thought...

There's support for polls in the software I'm using, but I removed it since I thought it was a little silly. If a lot of people like the idea, though, I can look into bringing it back. I think it lets anybody create a topic that contains a poll, and define up to 10 choices for people to vote on. Then like you said, it automatically tracks and graphs the results.

I'd rather you not let just anybody create a poll. I'm afraid there would be all sorts of silly polls created that after a while no one would pay any attention to them. I would prefer it if only you (or your designee) created the polls. Perhaps they could be polls that people request. If there's a lot of people requesting polls then perhaps you could do one or two a week. Keep them limited and meaningful and they'll be more useful. And visa versa...keep them useful and they'll be more meaningful.

That was my thinking too. I like your idea of having a limited number of "official" polls though.

So, any nominations for poll topics? Maybe we could have a weekly poll or something, with the results shown on the main index page.
